How Do I Check In?
The apartment assignments invoice you received in the mail provides you with your specific apartment assignment and your scheduled date of check-in i.e. the earliest possible day that you may move into your apartment. You will need to bring two things to check into your apartment:

  • the assignments invoice mentioned above and

  • a cashiers receipt for the first month's rent.

Check in at the Alumni Village Main Office (157 Herlong Dr., Apt.#1). After the appropriate paper work is completed, you will be issued your apartment key. The check-in process takes about 15 minutes. Check-ins are done between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. For check in after 5:00 pm and on weekends, please contact the on-call resident manager at 850-443-7045. Please arrange your travel plans to correspond with these designated check in periods.

What About Storage Space For Personal Belongings?
Since there is no space available for the storage of personal belongings, we suggest you bring only those items that will fit comfortably into the space available inside the apartment. If you would like to bring your own furniture, plan to build your decorating scheme around the provided furnishings. A waiting list is maintained for students who wish to have their apartments completely unfurnished. In order to place your name on the list you must read and sign the furniture policy. We cannot guarantee when or if the furniture could be removed. Requests for partially unfurnished apartments cannot be honored.

What About Air-conditioning?
Very few apartments in Alumni Village have University-owned air-conditioning units (less than 10%). If you are assigned to one of these air-conditioned apartments, your monthly rental rate reflects a $20.00 per air conditioning unit charge above the cost of a non air-conditioned apartment.
Residents assigned to non-air-conditioned apartments may install their own air-conditioner only in the spaces provided (not in windows). At check-in, the resident is given a sheet with complete information on air conditioning installation. It is important to note:

Units requiring more than 208 - 220 voltage and 20 amperes will not run.
Alumni Village maintenance crew will install and remove air-conditioners for a small installation and removal fee.

What are the roommate eligibility requirements?

•  Students living in two or three bedroom apartments in Alumni Village may request to register a roommate (or up to two roommates in three bedroom units) to share their apartment.

•  Roommates must meet the same requirements as the leaseholder (i.e. the roommate must attend FSU and must be a graduate student or at least 23 years of age).

•  The leaseholder and roommate(s) must be of the same gender. Residents that have a spouse or other dependents residing in the apartment will not be allowed to register a roommate.
