We are your Residence Life Staff!
Residence Hall Staff members strive to maintain a comfortable
and educational environment for all FSU residents. They train together
weeks before you arrive and work together throughout the year to make
your living experience on the campus of Florida State University the best
ever!
Student Staff
When you move in, look for your Resident Assistant (RA).
RAs are full-time students and assist with individual and group concerns,
plan programs, enforce housing policies and are “on-call”
during evening and weekend hours. A Resident Assistant is available at
most hall desks each from 8pm – 11pm in the evening.
Most hall offices are staffed 24 hours a day. Our student Receptionists
work at the hall desk to assist visitors, check out recreational and cleaning
equipment and answer the telephone. At 11 p.m. our student Night
Staff make periodic checks of floors and exterior doors, help
with emergencies and enforce policy. They are on duty in the hall office
until 7 a.m.
Professional Staff
Residence Coordinators supervise larger halls and hall
complexes. These live-in professionals assume responsibility for the total
operation of a residence hall. They supervise staff, advise and counsel
individuals and groups, coordinate hall programs and serve as hearing
officers to students who break policy. Assistant Coordinators
are full-time graduate students who assist the Residence Coordinators
in ensuring the smooth operation of the residence halls. Smaller halls
are supervised by Hall Directors. They also are full-time
graduate students who are responsible for the total operation of the hall
and supervise a smaller student staff.
Every residence hall has a Hall Manager. These full-time
employees oversee custodial services and maintenance of the residence
halls. They handle room repair requests, coordinate storage and conduct
maintenance inspections of student rooms.
The Florida State University Police Department provides liaisons, also
known as Adopt A C.O.P.P.s, to every residence hall community.
These officers participate in staff functions and spend extra time in
their hall doing security rounds and interacting with students.
