Night Staff serve
throughout halls from 10:30pm until 7:30am nightly. Each hall is
staffed by a Night Staff who serves as the key desk attendant and
performs rounds of the building to ensure the safety and security
of the hall. Night Staff may confront issues of policy, safety
or security, as well as work in conjunction with the hall's staff
to assist in times of emergency or crisis. Night staff will assist
with the desk operations, are expected to complete administrative
tasks throughout the night, as well as communicate frequently with
the Night Staff Supervisor to ensure that he/she is informed of
what is happening in the building.
Since University Housing operates on a 12 month calendar,
Night Staff employees should be prepared to work finals weeks,
between sessions and during breaks (such as Thanksgiving and Spring
Break). Additionally, Night Staff may not work more than a total
of 40 hours per week, in combination with any other University-related
employment and may not be employed within any other department
of University Housing. If selected, applicants must complete a
screening interview and are subject reference checks, enrollment
and grade verification, as well as University Conduct and FDLE
criminal background checks prior to hire.
Night Staff are appointed on a semesterly basis, as long
as job performance is at the expectation of the Residence Coordinator
and Assistant Coordinator for Night Staff. At time of hire and
throughout appointment, Night Staff must maintain a 2.2 undergraduate
or 3.0 graduate GPA and full-time enrolled student status for the
semester appointed.
