The Social
Science and Public Affairs Learning Community is available
to first year students declaring majors in the College of Social
Sciences or closely related majors. The goal of this learning community
is to create an environment that will assist new students in meeting
people of similar interests, get to know faculty on a personal
basis, and become involved in activities pertaining to issues of
government and public policy. During the one credit hour seminar
and other “in house” courses,
students will explore contemporary issues in Public Affairs with
a variety of faculty members and individuals who currently work
in the public arena. Residents invited to participate will experience
the benefits of living in a close-knit, supportive community, and
are asked to support the general mission of the community - to
educate students for citizenship. *NOTE: The Social Science
and Public Affairs Learning Community is currently housed
in Cawthon Hall and you may temporarily see references to this
on the program’s
website. However, beginning in Fall 2007, the program will be
housed in DeGraff Hall.
