Tips
for Everyone
1. You will need your U.S. Social Security Number in order
to apply for campus housing. If you do not already have
a U.S. Social Security Number, please use the Student ID
number that was assigned to you. You will find this number
in the bottom left of your official letter of admission
from the university's Office of Admission and Records.
The number usually starts with G-899 or G-999.
2. Undergraduate applicants will receive a notice in the
mail to confirm that we have received a completed housing
application. Graduate applicants will not received notice
in the mail. In the event that the mail does not reach
you for some time, you may wish to contact the Housing
Office at housinginfo@admin.fsu.edu to
confirm that your application has been received.
3. Due to delays in sending mail internationally, we recommend
the online
application process. It will save time, thus enabling you to be placed
on our room assignment list earlier than if the application
were to be returned by mail.
4. The official opening is the earliest date students can
move into their assignment. You may have to make arrangements
to stay with friends or at a hotel if you arrive earlier
than the official opening date. Undergraduate opening dates
may be found here.
Graduate opening dates may be found here.

Tips for Graduate Students
1. Most graduate students choose to live in Rogers
Hall , Ragans
Hall , or at Alumni Village. If you are assigned
housing in Alumni Village , you will have to arrange and
pay for utilities before you will be allowed to move in
to your apartment. Plan your arrival in Tallahassee to
give you ample time to do so at City Hall during business
hours. If you already have a U.S. Social Security Number
and a U.S. Driver's license, you may go online to have
your utilities turned on. Utilities can also be connected
by phone, mail, or fax if you have these documents. Click
here for
a list of all options and instructions.
2. It generally takes up to 24 hours for your utilities
to be turned on after you apply for service from the City
of Tallahassee. If you are unable to connect service prior
to your arrival, you will need to reserve a hotel room
or stay with friends for at least your first day here.
