GENERAL INFORMATION

How are assignments made?
Assignments will be made based upon the original application priority number for each student.  Original application date refers to the date a student first applied to University Housing with continuous residency.  It is not necessary to be the first person in line on January 20.  The order in which the applications are returned for the Fall 2010 is irrelevant. Same room assignment requests will not supersede original priority date and number.

I am interested in Ragans or McCollum Hall and have roommate preferences. What is the process?
Please follow these steps:

•  Indicate roommate as most important on your housing agreement.

•  List up to 2 roommates on your housing agreement. Please email us at housinginfo@admin.fsu.edu with your additional roommate preferences if you wish to add a 3rd roommate request.

NOTE: In order to attempt the assignment, all roommate requests must be mutual. By emailing your roommate preferences, all agreements will assume the original priority number of the most recent applicant. This may affect our ability to accommodate your hall preference and our ability to assign the group to a specific apartment.

May I request only one particular hall?
Yes, but this request neither increases nor decreases your chances of assignment.  Please understand that if you do not get an assignment to your preferred hall choice, you will be assigned to another space.

I require special/medical housing accommodations. What should I do?
Re-submit your medical/special accommodations documentation and requests to the housing office. DO NOT ASSUME THAT PREVIOUSLY SUBMITTED DOCUMENTATION WILL BE CONSIDERED.

What are my chances of receiving a “special” room?
Special room types are defined as singles with private bath, doubles with private bath, triples, triples with private bath, quads, and quads with private bath.  There are a very limited number of these special rooms. Again, assignment to these spaces is based upon original application date and priority number.

May I request a specific roommate?
Yes. If you list roommate as the highest priority, the roommate pairing will assume the priority number of the most recent applicant. Current residence hall students who renew their agreement and request a new Fall 2010 applicant as a roommate will assume the new applicant's priority date and number. Your assignment will be done in June. This will affect your hall placement.

May I request my same room assignment?
It is not always possible to assign all students requesting to return to their same room assignment. Students requesting the same room assignment must indicate hall as the highest priority.

SPECIAL NOTICES FOR 2010-2011

•  Assignments: Assignments will be made using original priority dates and numbers. Original application date refers to the date a student first applied to University Housing with continuous residency. You may list up to four hall preferences on the housing agreement.
